Again, click on the image above to see it larger. This is the news page where the Internal Communication content lived on a permanent basis. Users could also access archival stories from this page as well. The content areas of the page were organized into the following sections:
1. "Top Stories" - These were the the most important stories as determined by the editorial staff for the internal audience's focus. This area was a feature area and each story lived in one of the following sections for archival purposes.
2. "Corporate News" - These were non-product specific articles that, as you would expect, were more high-level or corporate in nature.
3. "Global Markets" - In an effort to emphasize the global nature of the company, Internal Communications had this section to focus on news and articles that were not U.S.-centric in natures. An ongoing point of discussion with this section, and this idea of inclusiveness, was "how do we give focus on it without making it seem "other" or "lesser".
4. "Product News" - This section is 'below the fold' and our of range of my screen shot, but is what it sounds like... product or product-team related stories.
5. "50x15" - At the upper left of the page we used this section to feature stories, links, and videos in support of the company's publicly stated initiative to help drive Internet connectivity to 50% of the world's population by the year 2015. Not sure how that's going so far...
6. "Sponsorships" - During the mid-2000s, AMD had a major push into corporate sponsorships of sports including Ferrari's Formula One racing team and also Lance Armstrong's USPS cycling team. This section was used to highlight the goings-on with that effort.
7. "AMD in the Community" - In this section we featured stories about how AMD and its employees were giving back to respective communities in which they lived and conducted business.
8. "Employee Feature" - At upper right, this was a monthly feature that focused on a key or just otherwise interesting person somewhere in the company. A couple different employees would be featured during the month so there was a new person featured from somewhere in the world every 2-3 weeks.
9. "Web casts" - Here we featured our latest and greatest video piece for internal consumption. As often as possible we would web cast new features not available on the web to the general public that featured AMD, as well as CEO communication videos, which I will detail a bit more in the next screen shot.
10. "Press Releases" - Yet another spot to feature press releases.
